Japanese & Korean study lesson 3 “What is this/that/it?”

Japanese & Korean study lesson 3 “What is this/that/it?”

Hello!

みなさんこんにちは!

Today’s topic is “What is this/that/it”

After this lesson, you can learn;

– What is this / that / it?
– This / That / It is ○○.
– How to say when you want to buy something.

Those are very simple, but very important for everybody who goes to a shop or restaurant..etc

Let’s get started!!

Japanese & Korean lesson 3

What is this / that / it?

Firstly, I will tell you how to ask “What is this / that / it?”

Please check below;

これ / それ / あれはなんですか? (Kole / Sole / Ale-wa-nan-desuka?)

이거 / 그거 / 저거 는 뭐예요? (Igeo / gugeo / jeogeo-nun-mwo-yeyo?)

To make you understand one by one,

I will break those sentences down below;

これ(Kole) / 이거(Igeo): This
それ(Sole) / 그거(gugeo): That / It
あれ(Ale) / 저거(jeogeo): That
は(wa) / 는(nun): Japanese article
なん(nan) / 뭐(mwo): what
ですか? (desuka?) / 예요?(yeyo?): is

As I wrote “それ(Sole) / 그거(gugeo): That / It”, “それ(Sole) / 그거(gugeo) could be both “That and It”.

これ(Kole) / 이거(Igeo) are used to point out the nearest,
それ(Sole) / 그거(gugeo) are used to point out the middle (bit far)
あれ(Ale) / 저거(jeogeo) are used to point out the farthest

When you want to question, please try to use,

What is this? (point out the nearest)
 - これはなんですか?
 - 이거는 뭐예요?

What is that / it? (point out the middle (bit far))
 - それはなんですか?
 - 그거는 뭐예요?

What is that? (point out the farthest)
 - あれはなんですか?
 - 저거는 뭐예요?

Move on to the next lesson how to answer to “What is this / that / it?”

This / That / It is 〇〇.

You wonder how to answer if someone asks “What is this / that / it?” to you?

Easy peasy!!

You just change the order of the former lesson.

これ / それ / あれ は○○です。 (Kore-wa-○○-desu)

이거 / 그거 / 저거 는 ○○이에요. (Igeo / gugeo / jeogeo-nun-○○-yeyo)

When you want to distinguish これ / それ / あれ and 이거 / 그거 / 저거, please check the former lesson.
Plus, I reccomend you to point out and say the words in order to be able to say smoothly.

Again, I sum up the sentences below;

This is ○○. (point out the nearest)
 - これは〇〇です。
 - 이거는○○이에요.

That / It is ○○. (point out the middle (bit far))
 - それは○○です。
 - 그거는○○이에요

That is ○○. (point out the farthest)
 - あれは○○です。
 - 저거는○○이에요.

Give me… (When you buy something)

Today’s final lesson, I will discribe how to say “Give me…”.

In English country, they say “Can I have…” “Could I have” “I’ll have”…etc, in order to buy something at a shop or restaurant.

But, in Japan and Korea, if you remember one word “Give (Please)”, you can totally fine when you want to buy something.

Let’s see how to say that;

○○ください。 (○○-kudasai)

○○주세요. (○○juseyo)

That’s all you need to know for shopping basically.

You can put what you buy on ○○ and add “ください / 주세요”.

Let’s practice by using the words learned on former lesson.

This one, please. (Point out the nearest)
 - これください。
 - 이거주세요.

That one, please (Point out a bit far)
 - それください。
 - 그거주세요.

That one, please (Point out the farthest)
 - あれください。
 - 저거주세요.

Got it?

Practice makes you better!

So, please practice and try to use when you have an opportunity to say.
